Meet Sascha Berliner: A New Addition to the LYB Team!

Sascha, welcome to the LYB team! Let’s start with a few questions.

How did your fitness journey begin?
My fitness journey started from the moment I could walk. I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t enrolled in dance classes. Growing up I would dance multiple hours a week while also playing soccer and competing in track and field events. When I was 14 my mom started CrossFit and I always remember itching to try it out. When I was old enough, I enrolled in classes and immediately loved it. Because of the dance and track, CrossFit sat on the backburner. When I started university in September of 2021, I was lost. I was suddenly in a big city, I had few friends, and few responsibilities, which led me to live the typical “first-year routine”; study, drink, sleep repeat. In January of 2022 I decided to change that, I started lifting again and fell in love with it. A few months later, I decided to sign up for a powerlifting meet and the rest is history.

Why do you love being a part of LYBF?
I love LYB because of the community. A lot of gyms do not have the welcoming energy and encouragement that is found here.

Any advice for new clients?
Any advice for new clients/new moms? I think the most important thing is to be kind to yourself and frame everything you can in a positive light. Life is hard, and everyone is just trying to do their best. If you don’t make the 6am class because you overslept, don’t beat yourself up. Instead, train your mind to acknowledge it, actively make a change that can help you be more successful next time, and move on. Dwelling on that one miss can really deter you from trying again. In this case, you probably needed that extra 30 minutes of sleep! Try not to let one miss ruin your whole day, use that extra energy and time to attack another goal on your To-do list for the day.
