Meet Emily Clements: A New Addition to the LYB Team!

Emily, welcome to the LYB team! Let’s start with a few questions.

How did your fitness journey begin?
I trained as a gymnast from 8-12 years of age. This was a long ways back and I withdrew due to the dangers associated with the competitive nature of the sport. Afterwards I found it hard to constructively fill the void and found myself battling a decent deal of anxiety by the time I hit my late teens. I found yoga at 22 thanks to some advice from my mom and quickly fell in love. I was able to compassionately compete with myself while simultaneously training for life. Since then I’ve used various types of movement as a means of therapy and don’t know where I’d be without them.

Why do you love being a part of LYB?
Moms, bars, babies, chalk, sweat and smiles. Most days It’s enough to make my heart burst. The clients are so inspiring and the trainers so passionate and eager to share their knowledge. It’s a very special space.

Any advice for new clients/new moms?
Everyone starts somewhere. As we age we have a tendency to shy away from the fear and discomfort we associate with trying something new. We’re all too often stuck in our own way. Try and channel that inner kid with the open, curious mind. You have nothing to lose and so much to gain. For new moms, please know, you couldn’t be selfish if you tried! Prioritizing your mental, physical and emotional well being is the single most important investment you could make for you as well as your babe. Perhaps it’s annoyingly on point but.. “You can’t drink from an empty cup”.
