Coach Catherine, we would love to know a little bit about your family.
I was born in China and was adopted by my amazing mother when I was a baby. I grew up in Regina, Saskatchewan where I completed my primary and secondary education. Growing up I took part in various sports such as soccer and figure skating. However, I was always most passionate about my dance! I’ve been dancing all my life in genres such as Ballet and Contemporary. I am now studying Human Kinetics at the University of Ottawa with hopes of becoming a physiotherapist!
How did you get into fitness?
I’ve always been fairly active since a young age and have always enjoyed working out. When I started studying here at The University of Ottawa, I started to learn more about physical fitness and the importance of exercising. I think that really sparked a passion for me to take my fitness training to the next level and to start sharing my passion with others.
What are your fitness goals these days?
Currently, I want to focus on building more strength and becoming stronger, but my main goal with exercising is to always feel healthy and happy.
What does your fitness mean to you?
For me, fitness means being healthy and treating my body with the care it deserves. Lately, it has really become a representation and reminder of my hard work.
Tell us about your favourite food.
My favourite food would definitely be sushi. I could eat that every day!
What do you love about yourself?
I love that I am hardworking. When I put my mind to something I’m always set on completing it.
What do you love about LYB?
I love everything about LYB! I love the inclusive environment and how the coaches really get to know their clients. There are some lifelong relationships that are built here and I think that is what makes LYB such an awesome place.
