3 Reasons Why You Need to Join the LYB Run Club

Training for a race can be a challenge whether you’re just starting your run journey, or you’ve been running for years.

The KMs are long, the weather is cold (and slushy), and it can be hard to stay motivated when your race is so far in the future.

Enter – RUN CLUB What are the benefits of running with a club?
1. Camaraderie
You’re in it together. Legs feeling tired? Commiserate with friends. Feeling great about your interval run? Let us celebrate with you! Need a buddy on a tempo day? You know there’s someone else you can call on who needs to get that run in too. Whether you’re physically running with the group, or you’re debriefing after a solo run, there’s always someone going through the same thing to hype you up.

2. Group Runs
Wednesdays and Saturdays will be your new favourite days of the week. Meet up at LYB on Wednesday nights at 6pm for an interval or hill workout with the crew designed to build speed, capacity, and leave you feeling accomplished (and probably a little – okay a lot – sweaty). Saturday mornings we’ll meet up at LYB for a quick warm up and then head out for our long runs (Between 3K and 12K depending on your distance and week of the program) and then return for a little post run stretch and maybe a coffee at one of the local spots if you’re so inclined

3. A Coach Dedicated to your Success
Not only do you not have to program your workouts yourself, you also have someone to ask questions, bounce ideas off of, and keep you accountable if you need that extra push. If you miss a run and you’re trying to figure out whether to squeeze it in elsewhere or change up your programming for the week – there’s someone to ask. If you’re feeling unmotivated and need a pep talk – I’m your girl. Not only am I here to support you – I’ve been there too.

A several month program can feel overwhelming at times, but having someone who can see the bigger picture is so helpful. I’ve made some of my best friends through running (an hour out on a long run with someone will bond you), and the feeling of knowing your crew has your back and is cheering you on is so motivating.
